BTW
for what its worth? Will Smith is a MUCH BETTER photo, and WAAAAAY more valuable then DiCaprio. Hes married to a HOT woman, his children are beautiful, he is always smiling, and he makes great movies.
In the end the magazine would shell out big bucks for Smith.
They would pass on Dicaprio in a heartbeat. IF you see him courtside at the lakers game its because the "wires" shot him and the mags subscribe and nobody passes on a free photo

Manager & JuicyFruit,
let me enter the discussion here and say your both right and wrong:
first, Will Smith is not seen in the magazines for a few reasons, 1. he is very "boring" (leads a normal life by celebrity standards), not a cheater, fantastic father, and stable guy. Most importantly, he is hard to photograph because his life is structured in such a way that the photographers wont pursue him unless there is some big "news" about him (new baby, movie release, divorce etc)
However, photos of him filming a movie WILL AND DO sell in the magazines. Primarily because the mags are owned by the big multinationals who back the movie and its a form of promotion and a public reminder of how much "you love will smith"
DiCaprio: Only for a "new girlfriend" or when he has an upcoming project to be released. He's one who "hides" from the public in general so he's just not interesting. If he got married and had a baby he would be in the magazines every week for years. In the absence of nothing to promote there is no interest in placing his photo. If he is shot "all the time" by photographers its news to me but that is simply fools hoping to sell a photo on a wing-and-a-prayer. Its a bad gamble.

The race issue. Historically, the major entertainment magazines did not sell many photos of black celebs. Why? Its a larger picture here but a quick summary is: the pool of black celebrities WAS tiny in the past. Many of whom were similar to Will Smith-as in the only story you could write about them is "what a great parent xxxx is, they are so cute with baby at the park" Actors like Denzel Washington appeared frequently in the mags but AGAIN only when doing "american Gangster" in NYC on the film set.
Presently there is DEFINITELY a strong correlation with the election of president Obama and black celebrities appearing in the magazines. No longer just the super A-list types as in the past. Now you see Kelly Rowland, MEL B, Jennifer Hudson, Hallie Barrie (so much you could puke) Hallie is like every single week with her baby.
Finally, a variable is the demographic and the advertising, consider the ads in Ebony vs. People. Also the target demographic. I do notice that the magazines like Jet, Source, and Ebony almost NEVER have white celebrities in them, such as I expect they wouldn't. Because of their target audience.
Of course there is a larger discussion to be had on the celebs that appear in the major us magazines with regard to race. One thing all of them have in common is they are very light skinned and their personal views publicly expressed represent those views that are dominant in "white america"
Just my .02 cents

Okay, I see your point, and appreciate your response, but I don't think that I'm dead wrong. I guess Dicaprio needs to settle down and get hitched to keep the paps away.
Wow, I didn't know Dicaprio was 34! I thought he was in his 20s.

Careful there JuicyFruit, not everything is about race… While I shouldn’t dignify your comment with a response, I feel compelled to explain whenever I consider someone to be dead wrong about a subject.

(You’ll notice I don’t use emotion or feeling to decide this issue, but facts.)

You claim that “boring” DiCaprio is more popular with the paparazzi than Smith because he is white… please. How can you even compare a childless, unmarried 34-year old who dates models to a 40-year old happily married father of three? (You really should ask yourself why it is that you see the color of their skin as their only difference.)

Regarding popularity with the paparazzi and “white folks,” a quick image search on Google reveals there are 72% more photos of Will Smith (1,220,000) online than there are of Leonardo DiCaprio (710,000).

We don’t mind if you comment, we just want you to be right…

I agree that Will Smith is pretty boring, but so is Leo Dicaprio, and the paps photograph him all of the time. The paps could probably take the same BORING photos of Smith, Washington or Fox, but choose not to, because they know that they'll get more money for photos of Dicaprio. Why? Because white folks want to see BORING photos of Dicaprio (the white guy), and not Smith (the black guy).
