I so agree with this article. Social Media is a top of the brand element for sure it needs to start at the brand core if you have brands that are major players in an industry and you play a role of distributor for those brands.

I do know where there are viral effects of Social Networks that could and would be of great effect with right leadership and strategy. The place to look for local retail base is the hyperlocal marketing -mobile area.So interesting that we use the tool that has the whole world at the tip of your fingers to find the closest and most relevant info on the closest source for that need. Also the listening software that is out there now is great for companies to really "hear" what is being said and this can really help a leader feel and understand which way the wind is blowing.

Having put CRM systems into companies and now working with some of the new folks that are putting the S or social elements into the mix you are dead on with your outline of success....crawl,walk,run. The S part will become more and more of the equation as customers look to each others recommendations over the brands. A lot of companies need to work very hard on customer service before engaging in Social business for sure. Those that do mature thru the crawl, walk, run, model will fly way over their competitors... Just a few thoughts.... Nice post for the auto dealers...
