It’s All In The Details
(It’s All in the Details is an annoying business term and is just one of the 212 Most Annoying Business Phrases Managers Effuse, Confuse, and Overuse detailed in the hilarious must-have guide for every workplace: The 30,000-Pound Gorilla in the Room. Available right now on Amazon.)
It’s All in the Details
It’s all in the details is uttered by those who don’t know the details. They don’t know them, of course, because they’ve never bothered to read them… and they wouldn’t understand them if they did read them.
They’re dolts – which, unfortunately, is often a prerequisite for most management positions today.
Saying it’s all in the details is a simple, yet futile attempt at misdirection. Managers who use this one fancy themselves as magicians or puppet masters (or both); and they (wrongly) believe they can fool you and the rest of the team with their words.
Rather than grasping what’s happening and helping fashion a strategy, annoying managers are famous for deflecting and procrastinating. It’s all in the details is the ultimate deflection; and a sure sign you’ve been right all along: your boss is an idiot.
Replacement phrases: No replacement needed; just learn the details.
