Show the Seams

It seems some annoying managers are obsessed with seams.

In one breath they want you to show the seams and in the next they don’t. Seems like they should make up their minds about these seams. Especially given the divisiveness of seams.

Half the readers are thinking, “When did seams become a bad thing?” While the other half thinks, “Who wants to see the seams?”

We’re with you… all of you. Moreover, we’re motivated to get annoying managers to simply stop talking about seams and to start talking about what they really want.

If you’re prone to tell others to show the seams or to not show the seams, we (and everyone in your workplace) would like you to consider using words like “details” or “processes” or “parts” or “plans” or whatever it is you specifically want us to show or not to show.

If that’s not possible – and it’s probably not – perhaps you could just decide whether exposed seams are inherently bad or good. Like poorly designed seams, it seems we’re split on the subject.
